Founded in 1910 in Uedem on the Lower Rhine by Johann van Elten, his vision was the breakthrough for the modern safety shoe as we know it today: the revolutionary invention of the first ELTEN work shoe made of leather instead of wood, as was common at the time. Today, they are one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality safety and occupational footwear in Europe and employ over 190 people with an annual production of approx. 1.6 million pairs.
